January Review

According to  the graph below.which I downloaded from here, I am behind on my reading. I have to be honest I did not try very hard this month so in February to get caught up i have to read 21 books.

I read 11 books for the month of January.

Jack with a Twist- An ARC book I am stuck on the review for this one. I liked it ok but it is the same as all other chick lit out there.

On Writing by Stephen King-review coming

Perfect on Paper-this was also part of a blog stop tour

Winnie the Pooh on Problem Solving-This had been sitting in my MT TBR pile for a long time. review coming

Forever Lily

Book Thief

Hiss and tell

night light- a book on mediations no review

if your cat could talk- a intro book to cats that was somewhat boring no review

angel cat- review coming

politics in compassion- an arc book that was just ok review coming

In February I need to buckle down if I am going to meet my goal of 200 books.

I had an accident yesterday. While taking a bubble bath I dropped a book in the water. It seems to be in fair shape after a took a hair blow dryer and blew it dry. Ah well..

I have been reading but not keeping up with blogging. That will change this week I hope. I just cant seem to tear myself away from the books long enough to type my reviews.

I have also been signing up for some challenges in 2009 so if you see a lot of challenges posts you know why. if anyone knows of any good ones let me know.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!!

It has been a while since I have posted a Sunday Salon. In November I sunk into a black cesspool of depression and the words would not come. I read but I could not string two sentences together for the life of me. However the depression is lifting and words are coming back so it is looking up.

Last week I posted:

Seductive Poison-About a woman who escaped from the Jonestown People’s Temple. An enthralling read.

Choosing to Be- An ARC book about how a woman went from suicidal depression to finding peace through mediation. A apt book considering my state of mind last month. I really enjoyed this book.

At the moment I am reading

Peaceful Endings: The NOPOSAM Project

ISBN: 1432727397
ISBN-13: 9781432727390

Another ARC book. I like it so far although I think some characters are mean. I will see if there is a purpose to the meanness after I finish.

This week I am going to focus on my backlog of ARC books. I feel guilty that i let them pile up like I have.

I hope everyone has a good week!

I tried to give up or rather cut back of caffeine these past two weeks. I failed. Or not really failed but rather I am convinced caffeine is brain food. When I am highly caffeinated my brain works. When I write the words flow effortlessly onto the page. I even read better. When I am un-caffeinated my brain refuses to pick out the words and moves slowly and laboriously from one word to the next. I hate it. So I am sticking with the notion that caffeine is actually good for you and consuming obscene amounts and speed reading and writing my way through life.

Needless to say I did not get my usual 5 books a week done this week. Which makes me sad. What makes me even sadder is that I only read one book

Blood Noir by Laurell K Hamilton

Never fear, I am back on my steady diet of caffeine and this week will be a productive reading and blogging week.

I signed up for this Saturday 24 hour read-a-thon. It will be my first. I hope I can really stay awake for the whole 24 hours. I will be up dating my blog during that time also if you want to check to see if I am awake or not. If you want to sign up for yourselves go here

There is nothing more relaxing on a dark and rainy night than soaking in a hot bubble bath and a good book. The book that I was reading was Mexican Bowl Fishing and Other Tales of LIfe. A humorous book that left me laughing all the way through. A full review will be posted soon.

This past week I read the Glass Castle, the ARC for LibraryThing Double or Nothing. I enjoyed both.

After I finish Mexican  Bowl, I will read the Last Days of Krypation, another ARC about the days of Superman home planet and it’s destruction. I am not one to judge a book by it’s cover, but Last Days of Krypton has one of the flashiest covers I have seen. It is a hologram and I have spent minutes with it under the light watching the Superman Logo. It is strangely captivating.

I have added a page to my blog showing the books I have read so far in my quest to reach 200 books in a year.I  am behind but it is a long way to April 10 2009 so you never know.

I have also found lots of new book blogs to read on My Friend Amy’s book Blogger Appreciation Week contest. As a new book blogger it is fascinating to read the “A” listers in the book blogging niche. You can vote here.

Fall is coming. Usually summer is my favorite time of the year but I am so ready to curl up in comfy Pj’s drink Apple Cider while reading a good book. As i ma in the south this will still be a while but nevertheless the unbearable hot muggy heat that feels like it will melt your skin has let up.

This past week I read three books Sunset with God, The Battle Belongs to the Lord and Skinny bitch with the accompanying recipe book. The first two were lent to me by a friend and I have to say I enjoyed both quite a bit.

I have 4 ARC’S that i need to finish ASAP. I finally got a book from HarperCollins for an ARC  after trying for months on end. Hopefully there will be more to come from them and other places. Even though my postman gives me dagger eyes every time he sees me I still love all the books I get.

Another goal for this week is to keep up with my blog posts. Maybe I will write a bunch and set them up to post automatically. Yeah there’s an idea.

I really have started to seriously love book reviewing. When I first started I thought it would just be a hobby. Recently I have started to really craft my reviews. Reading  “pro” book blogger’s to gain ideas. Taking more and more time to get as good as a review as possible etc. If I could make a living doing it I would give up everything and move to the Islands or South of France and write and review books. One can dream….

I recently started the novel Ringworld. So far I like it. I love almost any kind of Fantasy or Science Fiction. I read SunSet with God. Lose weight feel good by Joyce Meyer’s and one other book that escapes my memory. I set a goal of reading 5 books this week. Maybe that will keep my brain from wondering. Now I am off to catch up with everyone else.
