I have never been one to fall in love with fictional characters. That is until I started reading Laurell K Hamilton Anita Blake series.

While I have characters that I enjoy immensely, I have never felt the pang of jealously that I feel when Anita Is with Jean-Claude. When it first happened, I ignored it. I mean Jean-Claude isn’t even real, right? So how could I be jealous? But when I felt like punching Anita for “getting” Jean-Claude I knew I had experienced the phenomenon so many readers have before me. I have finally fell in love with a made up person.

It is probably a testament to how well Hamilton writes that Jean-Claude is real enough to invoke such feelings.
