Alchemist

alchmiesitMy first thought when I finished this book was wow! There are very few moments that will make a blabbermouth such as me speechless but this book did.

This is a book that is really about following ones dream or finding the reason they were put here on earth. It tells of a journey that includes hard times as well as sweet times along the path Santiago(the boy )in the book must follow.Filled with ancient wisdoms and tales  Santiago set out after his father informs him he has his blessing to travel “until he sees that home (his village)already has the best castle. Travel he does. Then he Comes upon a Man who tells him that he must follow his dream to the end to realize his “Personal Legend”.

This is a book for dreamers everywhere. So often we give up when we think we have it all or when we think our dream is impossible never knowing it is just around the corner.

I must admit when I thought of the word Alchemist I envisioned the stereotypical  person who turned lead into gold. I never stopped to think of it in any other context until I read this book. Never stopping to think of it’s use in an allegorical manner. As a person who not only can turn lead to gold but can read “omens is a powerful person indeed.

Overall this is a powerful book. It will make you question if you are really living your dream.
