This is to all my blogging friends out there. When you write a new post, do you dive right in or do you have rituals that you follow. For example I check my email, social networks, Livejournal(personal crap) then write for this blog. If I try to write without doing it all in order, I find my creative muse dries up and I write crap.
What about you?

I have two blogs. My book review blog is easier; I’m not afraid of my opinions, though I always take longer crafting their wording than I think I will. My other blog is updated infrequently, and I have a lot of unpublished posts, mostly because those take even longer to write than my reviews.

Doh. I didn’t mean to hit the button. Bad misplaced modifying clause. My other blog is updated infrequently, mostly because those take even longer to write than my reviews, and I have a lot of unpublished posts. As for rituals, mine is usually just a deep breath before I dive in. And lots of revision.

I normally have my reviews pretty well written in my head before I ever sit down at the computer. That’s just how my brain works – it wants to try out some nice phrases, organize all the ideas, decide on the lede, all before I dig in. I can sit and stare at the monitor for an hour, then type the entire post in one go.
